Looking back, 2021 was a year of massive growth, books, examination tests, people and projects. I collected the most popular newsletter posts, columns, interviews and academic publications below.

Newsletter posts:
In March, I wrote about digital fashion and its generational dimensions. The biggest share of digital fashion customers is gen-Z. Gala Marija Vrbanic, founder of Tribute Brand, explained this trend: “Gen-Z grew up at the intersection of fashion and gaming,” 9 months forward, digital fashion is one of the fastest growing fields. 👾
Is TikTok the future of news media? Is the most popular post of 2021. It is a short case study of Sophia Smith Galer’s journalism on TikTok. Since April, she left BBC and became senior reporter at Vice. Definitely keep an eye on her, as this is the future of journalism. 🎭
In May, Login5 Foundation asked me to sociologically contextualize 7 Unicorn Drive, a book about the personal and business journey of Iza and Samo Login. “Follow your passion, do things with passion and have fun along the way. Take different, parallel pathways and don't forget to bring and meet other people along the way.” I take the parallel pathways approach very seriously and it definitely works. 😉🦄
May was a nice month for me. I participated in Data&Society workshop: The Hustle Economy. I met some rockstars from my field of research (Julia Ticona, Brian Ekdale, Grace Natabaalo, Zahra Stardust, Amar Ashar, Emily Hund) and had a 5-minute chat with danah boyd about the lack of platform labor debates in the Balkans.
I received the best compliment for Techno Feudalism post: “Potentially unruly avant-garde theory blogger.” Fast forward to December, it still keeps me going. 🙏🤩
During the summer I interviewed Arushi Saxena, who is part of Twitter Ethics Team. We discussed misinfo, deplatforming and platform governance. 🕊
Twitter is either your public diary and/or your local town hall meeting.
