Hi, my name is Tinca. I am a PhD student of economic sociology. I live on the internet and write about internet culture, creator economy and digital subcultures. Special focus on:

_ unpacking and putting current zeitgeist into words,

_ how people interact in this very space and time,

_ how societal institutions and platform economy shape human behaviour,

_ combining theories of youth studies (hello gen-Z), sociology and cultural studies.

In doing so, I am more interested in "Netflix and chill" than Netflix itself.

ABOUT ME

Custom illustration by Snooppul and Sima from Covatar I received when participating in workshop The Hustle Economy organized by Data & Society.

Experienced in research in academic and start-up environments. Currently pursuing PhD from the field of economic sociology. In order to truly understand and appreciate what is happening in society, I am integrating big data with thick data using qualitative, ethnographic research methods that uncover people’s emotions, stories and models of their world.

Coming from east of the west and west of the east, I thrive in international environments and gained experiences in Ljubljana, Hamburg, Groningen, Brussels and Amman. I believe that the future belongs to those who question which led me to establish this newsletter with special focus on creator economy, youth studies and internet culture.

You can also find me on Twitter and LinkedIn. Feel free to contact me for more information!
